BATS

Seitz Bat Removal

Bats live in a variety of habitats including wetlands, fields, forests, cities and suburbs.

Pennsylvania is home to eight species of bats, with the Little Brown Bat being the most common. Bats and humans may come into conflicts when a lone bat flies into a home or building, or when a maternity colony roosts in a building. Bats arouse from hibernation during March and migrate to their summer roosts in April. Each pregnant female gives birth to 1 or 2 pups in late May and early June. By mid July the pups are able to fly and begin hunting insects on their own.

Bats are beneficial because each bat may consume as many as 2,000 insects every night. Bats may become a nuisance when they decide to roost in and around your property. Their droppings (guano) can accumulate over time causing foul odors and health hazards. Fortunately there is a safe and effective procedure for humanely removing a bat colony from a home or building. This procedure called " Bat Proofing, " is a permanent solution to any bat problem.

Health Concerns:

Bats are possible carriers of rabies and should never be handled without protective gear. If you believe you may have been bitten or scratched by a bat contact your physician immediately.

Another concern associated with bats is a disease called Histoplasmosis, a fungal disease that primarily affects the lungs. Fungal spores grow in the soil and materials contaminated with bat and bird droppings. After we have removed the bats from your home or building, we will do a complete inspection and determine the extent of the damage.
